What is Numerology?

Each day, we are exposed to numbers. We have phone numbers, birthdates, even our financial information is driven by numbers. Numerology is the study of the numbers in our lives and how they affect us. A student of Numerology uses the letters in a word, such as a full name, or a birth date and reduces that to a single number. That number tells them certain things about the person's character, what strengths and weaknesses they possess; it can even be used to predict their future. Numerology is often closely associated Astrology as astrologists assigned the numbers 0 through 9 to each celestial body in the solar system and each number has its own set of values.

Numerology has been around for thousands of years. The Egyptians and Babylonians both used it over 10,000 years ago. Pythagoras, a mathematician whose theories are still in use today, is believed to have official organized Numerology in Greece over 2,500 years ago. He held the view that math concepts were easier to regulate and classify than physical ones. Others beliefs and writings important i n the development of Numerology were early Christian mysticism, the Chinese Circle of the Dead, the Kabbalah, and the Indian Vedas. At the beginning of the 20th century, L. Dow Balliet published the first book about Numerology, beginning what is known as the modern phase of Numerology and interest in it grew over the next few decades. Recently, a revival of interest in Numerology has occurred and many people are learning how numbers might affect them.

Although methods may vary, typically a numerologist reduces a word or number using a procedure called digit summing. If the numerologist is dealing with a number, such as a birth date, they add up all the numbers. If the sum is two or more digits, then those numbers are added until there is a single digit left. When dealing with a word, such as a name, each letter of the alphabet is assigned a number. For example, A =1, B = 2, C = 3. Then the same steps as above are followed - the numbers are summed until one digit remains. Some numerologists will not break numbers that total 11, 22, or 33. These are known as master numbers and are considered to have higher vibrations as than the numbers they would create if digitally summed.

Below is a brief definition of each number:

One - Because it is the first number, one is seen as having great power. Usually seen as male, one can be happy, loving and dynamic while also being alone and egotistical.

Two - Associated with female energy, two often represents partnerships and interacting with others. It can also stand for the polar opposites of things such as black and white or good and evil. This number is best symbolized by the Chinese symbol Yin-Yang.

Three - Three is often related to learning through life experiences. It is often considered lucky and magical. It can mean both wisdom and understanding, yet also be foolish and negative.

Four - The first composite number (the first number to be created by multiplying numbers other than one and itself), four is associated with the four cardinal points (North, South, East and West), the four Gospels of the Bible, and time (four seasons, roughly four weeks in each month). It is a homonym for the Chinese word for death, therefore; s ome hospitals do not have a fourth floor.

Five - Five is related with the five senses (smell, touch, taste, hearing, and sight) and often represents service to others as well as openness to new experiences, but it can also represent an addictive personality.

Six - The number six relates to beauty and often helps in building relationships. It is believed to hold charm, sensuality, and diplomacy. Six is also considered the mother/father number.

Seven - A spiritual number, seven can be both dreamy and spiritual while also being deceptive and insincere.

Eight - Eight represents hard work and life lessons. Because of that, eight is seen as seeking financial and material success, but is also associated with the hardships encountered while seeking both.

Nine - A sacred number, nine is viewed as a humanitarian number and holds mystical significance due to the nine-month gestational period for humans.

Numerology has been around for thousands of years. As with Astrology, some see Numerology as an occult science with little meaning, while others see it as a viable way to help them understand themselves and the world around them.

A Bone to Pick

In the Ancient times, there was always arch enmity between God and demons. On one occasion when the Gods had performed a Yajna or fire sacrifice, the demons demanded a share of the sacrifice.

The laws of atithi Sewa or hospitality, bound the Gods and they had to abide by the demand. Gods offered Saraswati the Goddess of knowledge and learning to the demons. Alas! Demons were meant always to be ignorant and they refused to accept her. Demons felt that knowledge had no positive aspects and that it only increased sorrow. They were not so concerned with speech and the art of communication. According to them speech only led to disputes and quarrels.

Enraged Saraswati was happy to decree the Gods as always higher and wiser while stated that the demons would always remain fools of ignorance.

Gods are not always serious and somber and ritualistic. They are also witty, cunning and diplomatic. A tale of such a wit is also associated with Saraswati.

A certain demon had practiced meditation over years together and had appeased Brahma. Brahma in such events always blessed the devotee. This would normally be a boon which may make him invincible.

The heavenly kingdom was alert as the demon continued with his austerities and reached a stage when getting a boon from Brahma was looming large. They all in a group appealed to Saraswati to find a way where Brahma's boon will not make the demon at par with the Gods.

Saraswati the symbol of intelligence transformed herself into a little speck and perched at the tip of the demon's tongue. When the time came and Brahma was pleased and asked the demon what he wanted as a boon, the demon's tongue was in control of Goddess Saraswati; the poor demon could only say I want to be asleep forever.

This way Brahma's boon was diverted towards making the demon ineffective, ignorant and always asleep.

Astrology: Health & Wellbeing

Health, it is rightly said, is wealth. Without good or optimal health, there is little we can do in life and career. Health has been connected to Astrology for a long time. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, once said: A physician without the knowledge of Astrology has no right to call himself a physician.

In olden times, the first thing a doctor did was draw up his patients astrological charts. Doctors dont do this any more. Still, one can use Astrolo gy to find out how we can stay healthy and also achieve a sense of balance in life and wellbeing.

It is, therefore, no surprise that there is a new, growing field of medical Astrology, which some physicians have also begun to use. This form of Astrology helps you find out what may not be discovered through general medical tests. Medical Astrology also gives basic information about your metabolism, the types of foods that may agree or not ag ree with you, and also what needs to be monitored for you to maintain good health and energy levels.

It goes without saying that the connections between your star sign and parts of the body are part of the Cosmos. This is reflected in the human body. For example, all the zodiac signs not necessarily the Sun sign you are born under are mirrored in your birth chart. They have a definite bearing on your health and well-being. A case in point: Capricorn represents the teeth, bones, joints, and the knees. It is, therefore, indicative that if you are a Capricornian, youd do well by eating a lot of proteins and calcium.

Astrology Debunking and the Closeness of the Charts

Astrology is something not everyone believes in, but all people like to talk about it now and again. What Zodiac Sign are you? A skeptic will often try to explain why the astrological signs are often very close to the personality of an individual. Such as if a person is born in a colder climate at a certain time of the year, this will affect their development in the critical early years.

For those who use this rationality as a skeptical Debunking case; well yes with regard to Astrology and Month one was born and the nurturing of the mother with the child, amount of breast feeding, closeness to stay warm, body temp in early baby development, amount of outside playing during the first years, would all change ones personality as they grew thru their body changes, learned to walk, stood up fell do wn, observed things and categorized and imprinted memory, so yes indeed when one was born would in fact change ones personality so there could be that aspect to the whole thing, I completely concur.

Along with the thought of Northern Latitudes amount of time outside due to cold. Thus someone in the opposite seasons like a Canadian Refugee living in AZ who brought their kids to live there who had offspring, well their offspring would be absolutely opposite from the young person first learning to walk in a Northern climate in Winter time. Good points to consider.

I am not so much into Astrology, however it is interesting how well sometimes they peg stuff in someone's personality. Although so often they use general terms making it tough, as that could apply to anyone. In fact as I read other Astrology signs well those also apply to what I know of my own personality, as a matter of fact they all kind of fit although a few don't and in that regard a few of my supposed attributes of my sign do not fit either, so I again concur with the skeptical view or at least their debate makes sense from a rational standpoint, perhaps you will consider this in 2006.

Inspirational Psychic Readings

During an inspirational psychic reading, the counselor uses his sixth sense to delve into the seekers aura and determine his subconsciously buried passions or aim in life. Far too many people experience a tedious daily grind at a job that they dont pArticularly enjoy; their aim is to complete yet another monotonous day, grudgingly accepting the fact, That's just the way life is. It's true that the majority invest so much time and effort into making a living that they neglect their hopes, dreams and aspirations, thus failing to live a gratifying life. And then there are those who are uncertain about what they want out of life.

Inspirational psychic readers believe that there are measures which, if taken immediately, will allow people who lack a focused vision to experience a life of their choice, rather th an being held hostage to a life characterized by unfulfilled aspirations. These counselors motivate seekers to take steps that most of them aren't aware exist, by asking them, do you know exactly what you want out of life? We all know, of course, that we want to find our soul mate, enjoy robust health, a fulfilling career, and be blissfully happy. But what we often don't know is what we should actually be doing, here and now, that will bring about these results.

Situations differ depending on each persons circumstance, but there are specific steps that can be taken right away to help the seeker realize his ambitions, regardless. If the seeker, however, does not have a focused vision regarding what he would like to accomplish, the reader quiets his mind and searches within for any indication of what might motivate him to take action towards a goal or passion that his inner voice has been urging him to do.

The answer may come as a whim to try something different to break the monotony or it may be a gradual awakening to a means of tackling an impediment he may be facing, but it is the first step towards a more gratifying existence.

Are You Playing The Fool to Your Advantage

What does the appearance of The Fool mean for you when it appears in a Tarot spread? Do you get excited or worried? In this short Article we explain what The Fool means when he appears in the Tarot.

The Fool is perhaps one of the most important tarot cards in the deck. He is the first card of the Major Arcana, the first of 22 cards. He is also the only one of the Major Arcana to remain in our modern card deck, appearing as the Joker. His journey is at a deeper level the journey we are all on - the journey through life and life's troubles, as no matter how old we are or what experiences we have been through we will still contine to find ourselves in areas where we are unsure, and vulnerable.

The Fool has appeared in many guises over the centuries in the different decks that have appeared. In the Visc onti Sforza deck he is seen looking a bit like a tramp without shoes in his stocking soles, and threadbare at that! He carries a large stick or staff over his shoulder as though ready to commence a long journey.

In the Wirth deck he looks a bit like the court jester of old, and most like the forerunner of today's joker in the traditional card deck. He has however a cat with it's teeth sunk into his left leg, and a crocodile in the distance. The picture on this card seems to indicate the urge of The Fool to get on with his journey in spite of all obstacles both past and future. The Arthurian Tarot portrays The Fool as Parsifal who sought the mythic Holy Grail, and the Mythic deck depicts him as the Greek god Dionysus, wearing animal skins of many colours, and dancing gaily at the edge of a cliff.

No ma tter which deck we use the appearance of The Fool is a sign that we should follow our own path no matter what. We need to have the courage to jump off the cliff into a new venture if that's what is called for. We need to have faith in our convictions no matter how hard this might be.

There are risks to everything in life and the appearance of The Fool in a spread is a great opportunity for a new beginning provided you are willing to make the jump!
