The True Zodiac

Vedic Sidereal Zodiac

The firmament contains countless stars that we know little about. But those that concern us from an astrological viewpoint because of their influence on earth and its inhabitants are located in the Zodiac belt that extends 9 on each side of the ecliptic (upward and downward) to form an imaginary 360 sphere divided into 12 equal parts called Zodiac signs.

Since the Zodiac is not a straight line, but a circular or ecliptic belt, how can the beginning or starting point be identified? The Jyotisha establishes that point on the basis of fixed constellations, specifically the Ashwini (or Arietes according to modern astronomy) at 0. The starting point for Western Astrology, however, is the vernal equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere), on March 21. This happens when the sun moves northward to a spot precisely over the equator. At that moment, night and day last the exact same length of time anywhere on earth. When the spring equinox coincided with the Ashwini 0 position about 1800 years ago, the two Zodiacs, the sidereal (Vedic) and the tropical (Western), were identical. However, the retrograde movement of the equinoctial points (a phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes) creates a constant delay of 1 every 72 years, meaning that today there is a difference of over 24 between the true Zodiac based on the constellations from which the signs take their qualities and, in some cases, their names, and the Zodiac used today in Western Astrology.

So, according to the sidereal Zodiac, the Sun is not in the sign of Aries be tween March 23 and April 22, as shown in Western horoscopes, but is located there between April 14 and May 13. The same difference of over 23 is to be found in the position of the ascendant and in that of the other planets.

In order to calculate a birth chart according to the sidereal Zodiac, if Western birthdays are used, the correction known as ayanamsha must be made. The term Ayanamsha is a combination of two Sanskrit words: ayana, which means solstice and amsha which means a portion, and establishes the difference between the present location of the spring equinox in relation to the fixed constellations, and the beginning of the Aries constellation. In other words, it is used to calculate the constellational longitude of a point or a celestial body when its position has been taken from West ern birth dates.

The official Ayanamsha used by the Government of India is the Lahiri, according to which the beginning of the Ashwini constellation and the vernal equinox coincided in the year 258 A.D.

An error handed down by the Greeks

Modern Western Astrology has inherited the Greek error of measuring the Zodiac from the spring equinox. A great deal of the literature on which current Astrology is based was written and translated in the third century and at that time the vernal equinox coincided with the beginning of the Ashwini or Aries constellation. The Greeks made the mistake of considering that point unchangeable. The spring equinox today still occurs in the third week of March, as it did at that time; however, it is no longer in the Aries constellation, but in the Pisces because of equinoctial precession.

The popular idea that we are living in the Age of Aquarius is another misconception arising from that same error; in actual fact, this is the Age of Pisces and it will be another four centuries at least before the Age of Aquarius sets in.

It is important here to stress that the signs of the Zodiac do not exist apart from the constellations; they are imaginary spaces that correspond to a given group of stars.

This also means that the horoscopes published in Western newspapers and magazines are meaningless, because the position of the Sun is their only reference point and in 75% of the cases this position is incorrect, having been calculated according to an obsolete Zodiac. In India, however, the Bangalore monthly, The Astrological Magazine, and other similar publications contain horoscopes based on the Moon, which is used to calculate planetary courses, as we shall see later. Most of the people there can benefit from reading a true horoscope based on Lunar planetary courses.

The Vedic sidereal Zodiac corresponds to visible and certifiable astronomical phenomena

Physicist Georges Charpak and Professor Henri Broch, in their scientific book Debunked, published in France, seek to unmask mystical philosophies and beliefs, together with certain paranormal phenomena like levitation, walking on coals, and so forth. They use the following argument to demonstrate the a lleged falseness of Astrology:

In fact, the Zodiac birth signs so common in astrological columns, along the supposed personal qualities for those born under them, are mostly based on astronomical positions traced out thousands of years ago. The problem with this is that the axis of the Earth's rotation is in continual change. The axis pivots, in a way similar to a spinning top, completing a revolution in about 25,790 years. As a result the Zodiac signs in use today by astrologers do not correspond at all to the constellations represented when the charts were originally drawn up

The authors conclude that modern society i s infected with thoughts that have little to do with science and that it is not so rational or scientific, after all. In seeking to discredit Astrology in general, Charpak and Broch brandish an argument that, as we have seen, is not applicable to Vedic Astrology, whose Zodiac recognizes and adjusts to the continuous changes in the axis of the earths rotation they mention in their book. Astrology, for them, apparently refers only to that practiced in the West. It is true, then, that modern society is neither so rational, nor so scientific, for, with the exception of a very small group of people, it is unfamiliar with the goldmine of knowledge and information to be found in the Vedas and believes that the civilization of ancient India was based exclusively on superstition and religious fanaticism, without any philosophical or scientific basis whatsoever.

When modern astronomers and students discover the existence of the Vedic Zodiac, they will realize that the wise men of old India were extremely familiar with facts that they are only now beginning to glimpse with the advances in technology. They will find themselves, thanks to this discovery, looking upon that civilization and culture with respect and admiration and will want to learn from it. We predict that in the not-too-distant future, there will be very few astrological practitioners who dont use the Vedic sidereal Zodiac.

Harmony Of The Spheres

Everyday we witness Synchronicity in the Universe. There is a harmony to the planetary cycles and if we listen for the tune, and become acquainted with the rhythm, we can dance in synchrony with the song called Life.

In order to demonstrate to those who doubt, I want to talk a little more about the subject of harmony. Antoine de Saint-Exupery once wrote; All that is essential is invisible to the eye. He was clearly being philosophical in his musings. We cannot see Love or Consciousness but neither do we question whether they exist.

However, lets discuss the quote from a more tangible perspective.

Recently it was revealed that a new security deterrent has been launched on the market. It is a box, the size of a speaker, which can be mounted in ways akin to a CCTV camera. The device is placed in areas of high crime, or where youths tend to congregate on street corners. It has been shown that groups of teenagers cause distress and concern to elderly pedestria ns, local shopkeepers and homeowners. The box emits a noise that is only audible to teenagers and those in their early twenties. The noise is so loud and irritating that the youths cannot bear to be around it for any length of time and quickly disperse.

This remarkable development is called a Mosquito The noise is delivered in high frequency, short wavelengths (pulses) and the device works on the fact that from our mid twenties, the human ear experiences a big drop in its ability to hear upper frequency sounds.

Lets repeat the salient point; The device is totally inaudible to those above 25 years of age !

Now, we take it for granted that animals have different aural abilities. These ultrasonic devices are commonplace in the form of dog whistles or cat deterrents. However, what does this development indicate when it is apparent that a proportion of our population have access to information that the rest of us dont?

We can be flip and cite this as the r eason that teenagers like music which adults find distinctly unpleasurable we now know they are literally hearing something different to us. The implications though are worthy of further sensible discussion, for this device takes ESP out of the realm of the occult and places it slap, bang into the High Street! It has to be viewed as a tacit vindication of those who have long professed to possess the gift of Clairaudience (the ability to hear things not audible within normal hearing ranges).

Our military forces have probably been using these techniques for years, just as they use remote viewing and other ESP techniques, yet deny their existence to the masses. However, what I want to focus on here is that this is yet another invisible force hidden within the usage of wavelength.

Our ethers are already full of invisible wavelengths TV signals, phone and radio signals. Infrared. Microwave, X-ray, Gamma rays and yet we can see none of them. Some are discerned by us as noise, some as heat and, I would posit, some by an invisible feeling which we know as intuition.

It is apparent that by slight alterations in the length, amplitude and phasing of soundwaves their manifestation is altered in the physical world. At certain frequencies (speed of light) we can hear our favourite Radio chat show. Just a slight alteration and we may be able to tune into the nearest airport control tower or the telephone conversation of other people. What else are we able to tune into?

And furthermore what, or where, is the internal dial or mechanism which once found could allow us to naturally tune into invisible to the eye information?

Did you know that the light which we see is really just an energy? The brightness at which we view a light source depends upon the number of photons which strike our eyes. Photons contain wave packets of information. A large number of photons mean the light source appears bright, fewer make it dimmer.

The colours that we perceive arent really there either. The colours that we do see are determined by the wavelength a shorter wavelength makes us see something as blue-er, a longer wavelength appears redder. Fundamentally then, all electromagnetic radiations are the same but each carries a different energy. This energy is distributed in a wave pattern known as an harmonic. Thus all of life can ultimately be related back to a number.

When we look at the use of certain rhythmic frequencies we can also see that they possess a power. We all know the story of the opera singer who can shatter glass. Stories abound of string instruments which start playing themselves when notes of a similar frequency are played nearby. And lets cast our minds back to the opening of the London Millennium Bridge.

Here, in an extract from Wikipedia, is what happened: The Millennium Bridge opened in London on June 10, 2000 but unexpected lateral vibration (resonant structural response) caused the bridge to be closed just 2 days later for modifications. The movements were produced by the sheer numbers of pedestrians (90,000 users in the first day, with up to 2,000 on the bridge at any one time).

The bridge was on the route of a major charity walk and it was an exceptionally fine day. The initial small vibrations obliged the users to walk in synchronisation with the sway, increasing the effect, even when the bridge was comparatively lightly loaded at the beginning of the day. This swaying motion earned it the nickname the Wobbly Bridge. Attempts were made to limit the number of people crossing the bridge: this led to long queues, but dampened neither public enthusiasm for what was something of a white-knuckle ride, nor the vibrations themselves. Resonant vibrational modes have been well understood in bridge design. However this was the first time a bridge had displayed this type of pedestrian excited lateral motion. This motion was caused by the human rea ction to small lateral movements in the bridge, which set up a driven harmonic motion in the bridge. The bridge had to be closed, not only because it was impassable but because these rhythms set up a vibration which has the power to damage the structure of the bridge.

Theories exist in esoteric literature that it was knowledge of this force that helped build the Pyramids. Certain rhythmic sound frequencies when used positively are said to have the power to levitate heavy objects, whilst when used at another vibrational frequency, sound has the power to destroy, such as in the fall of the Walls of Jericho - 'the Priests blew the trumpets, the people shouted and the walls fell flat'.

Chording into the symphony that governs life is our avian population. Birds are thought to set up resonances through their song. These trigger certain manifestations in the natural world, such as the opening of certain flowers, or signals which order the behaviour of other wildlife, f lora and fauna. Where the destruction of our birds would leave us in the event of a global Bird Flu pandemic, is a subject worthy of great consideration.

There are infinite demonstrations of the synchrony in the Universe emanating from the harmonic rhythms which flow through every facet of life. Nowhere is this more readily available for scrutinisation than in the study of Zipf's law.

ZIPF'S LAW

This law is known as a power law. Roughly translated it states that the frequency of occurrence of an event will eventually settle down into a harmonic arrangement. This law can be observed at work in a multitude of events. Amongst the most common are.

Frequency of accesses to web pages
Frequency of keyword usage in a search engine
Words in the English language
For instance, words in Shakespeares play Hamlet.
Populations of cities
Income Distribution amongst the top earning 3% of individuals
Size of earthquakes
Notes in musical perf ormances
Revenue of corporations
Gold records by musical artist
Internet traffic by site
Names in a population

To take Populations of cities as an example, George Kingsley Zipf took the population of 50 cities in the United States in 1930. He discovered that if New York was the largest, the second largest city has half the population of New York, the third largest has one third the population of New York and so on down until the 50th city which had exactly one fiftieth the population of New York. This holds true today and across the series of examples above and many others too.

The reason for this is not understood by physicists. Yet once again computers are now proving what many have known all along - the truth of Universal harmony.

Our World orders itself in natural rhythms. Our planets are part of that harmony (a harmony of the spheres) and it is my belief that the ancient art of Astrology remains one of the only disciplines that is able to translate the music into a cohesive understanding, or an En-light-enment, of our place in the greater order of things.

Aries Sign Soul Mission Your Soul's North Node North Star and Path to Fulfillment!

Not many astrology enthusiasts are familiar with the Nodes of the Moon. So I wouldnt be surprised if you told me that you never heard of such a term.

The nodes (south and north node) are two points in an astrological chart that possess priceless information about ones karmic past and Soul-destined future. One of the things you should always do when doing an astrological reading for someone is make them feel comfortable. Wherever your setting, make it as homey as possible. You don't want to dress it up with fancy occult items. Don't wear a turban or anything that makes you look like a psychic. Those are the things that give astrologers a bad name. You want to wear regular clothes and look like a regular person. This will give you a lot more credibility.

Only point out the parts that are very important and explain those in detail so the person understands not only what is going on, but what to watch out for, such as two planets coming into trine with each other, so they will know when tensions will begin to ease.

The one thing you should never do when performing an astrological reading is predict death. Even though you may be sure you see death coming, this is one thing you just don't do. It is okay to warn somebody that you see a dangerous situation ahead and warn them that they should be careful, say, when traveling. But never tell them you see them getting killed in a plane crash. This is one of the biggest don'ts, not only in Astrology, but for all of the mystical sciences.

Full Moons Skeptics are Wrong

Many do not believe in Werewolves or full moons. But they are Wrong you see, whereas there may not be Werewolves like in the horror flicks cruising around Suburban Cities, there are plenty of crazed humans during those full moon nights. Are you still in denial you skeptic?

Well I would say, ask a police officer at the coffee shop or bookstore next time you see one about if the Crime rates are higher during full moons. Then also ask an Emergency Hospital Room Worker. Then mention the over cast nights or even rainy nights full moons and ask them if there is more Crime related accidents and the cops if there is more violent Crimes. They will tell you and they have stories too.

Did you know in Chile every time they have an Eclipse they have an Earthquake right afterwards or the next day? Some 20 years running now, every single eclipse. Also higher tides cause more weight on the plates and thus more stress, which could improve chances slightly of an Earthquake. Chec k it out. Skepticism I applaud of course, so see for yourself perhaps you can add some information to your knowledge base in this case.
